Although Hagman's recipes are a bit on the side of the cream of mushroom soup casseroles, this is not necessarily a bad thing. When I needed to make something like rice crispy treats, this book was there for me, and it also has other great treats like peanut butter cookies which are just pb, sugar, and eggs. Hagman is clearly a real person who wants to cook reasonably well, but without too much fuss, and I can respect that.

The author is a well-trained chef, so on one hand, I feel like these recipes have a bit more credibility or reliability than the recipes from other GF cookbooks. At the same time, they are more complex and fussy than I have time for. In addition, the recipes are not perfect; I made an incredibly dry chocolate cake. The recipe warned that the cake would be dry if the timing wasn't exactly perfect, and indeed it was. I know that there are GF chocolate cakes which do not require such attention to detail and come out just fine. I'm reasonably glad that I own the book, and would half-heartedly recommend it to others. I think I got a good price through an overstock dealer.
